The aid amounting to RM250 per student will be monitored to avoid from being abused by university students.
The Ministry of Education will be taking serious measures in blacklisting students and bookstores found to have misused the Baucar Buku 1Malaysia (BB1M).
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching, said his company has distributed guidelines for the use and acceptance of BB1M to bookstores and higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country.
"We also provide a warning to students who receive BB1M not to convert them to cash and are only limited for the purchase of books."
Yap said, giving BB1M to all students is to ease the burden of purchasing books and foster interest in reading them.
"Therefore, we need the cooperation of all parties, including the public and community leaders in order to make a complaint to us if they find BB1M abuse among students," she said.
