Muhammadiyah University of Magelang (UMM) forms partnership with UKM and UniKL

Indonesian uni inks deal with Malaysian counterparts

Antara News Agency says UMM has signed a deal with two major universities in Malaysia for cooperation and excellence in various academic fields and to share expertise.

UMM rector, Muh Eko Widodo says the agreements were signed through series of visits by the leadership of the Association of Indonesian Private Universities (Aptisi) earlier this month to Malaysia and Singapore.

According to Widodo, UMM signed a deal with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) that covers important academic areas such as allowing doctoral candidates from the Indonesian institute to complete their PhD studies in UKM. It will also initiate the exchange of students, information and research collaboration, and promote the development of human capital.

The deal between UMM and Universiti Kuala Lumpur includes student exchanges and the development of vocational education in UMM. The collaboration with UniKL has a contractual obligation of three years.

The Indonesian institution needs the exchange of human resources to improve the university and introduce ‘more open concepts’, according to Widodo.
