The Malaysia Education Blueprint (Higher Education) 2015-2025 plans to ensure that Malaysia becomes the main producer of leaders in four areas of expertise in the Asian region.
The Blueprint will be implemented in stages via three main waves, while identifying critical issues that need to be addressed using a holistic approach.
President and Chief Executive Officer of the New York Academy of Sciences, USA, Dr Ellis Rubinstein, said the four areas of expertise are research, innovation, entrepreneurship and education.
Increase production of research papers and patents produced by researchers in various fields according to the economic market demand.
Not only does a more innovative economy generate entrepreneurial opportunities and jobs, it also creates prosperity and increases income levels among all segments of the population.
If the blueprint is implemented as planned, Malaysia's competitiveness on a global level in particular, economic and social forces will show a sharp increase in the future.
Solution of the critical issues involving research grants, teaching approaches, autonomy for public and private universities will in turn change the landscape of higher education in Malaysia.
