<ul><li>The Parent Action Group for Education Malaysia (PAGE) has requested the government to train teachers before English literature is re-introduced as a subject in schools.</li><li>This is in response to Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent announcement to include the subject in the national education system.</li><li>According to PAGE, English literature is an important subject and that teachers must have the ability to handle it.</li><li>English literature is the study of literature written in the English language, including literature composed by the most important writers in history.</li><li>Meanwhile, the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) has suggested an in-depth study of this plan before it gets implemented.</li></ul>
