Petaling Jaya: Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) announced yesterday that PTPTN borrowers can expect a deferment for an additional 3 months.
Higher Education Minister Datuk, Dr Noraini Ahmad, stated the extended deferment would be from Oct 1 to Dec 31.
Back in 2019, it was discovered that nearly all PTPTN borrowers in B40 category have not been repaying their loans and make up the 97% of loan defaulters. This is due to no regular income (29.1%), insufficient income (29.8%) and overabundance of commitments (28.3%), among other factors.
National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has been a top educational loan for Malaysian students
Today, we can't imagine what the statistics will be due to a global pandemic. Hence MoHE’s decision to extend the deferment period for PTPTN borrowers.
PTPTN borrowers can contact the corporation’s careline at 03-21933000, which operates from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, or visit the official portal at www.ptptn.gov.my for more information.
